We live in Nevada now, but our family is from Paris,
Illinois, home of Hybargers since the mid 1800s when Abraham Hybarger
established residence there.
We have been working on our
family trees for over 30 years and are compliers, not researchers. We
have compiled our family history with the contributions of a great many
family researchers. A great deal of
the Hybarger history is from a book by Joe Boyd, "The Hybarger / Highbarger
Family". About 10 years ago we "met" Joe Boyd on the
internet and then were lucky enough to meet him and his wife, Margaret, in
person. Joe is
the #1 Hybarger researcher. He and Margaret researched,
hand typed and published their book in 1972. There is a copy of it in the
Smithsonian Library. This is the definitive book on
Hybargers for any of you lucky enough to have one. If not, Joe has given me
permission to copy the book and distribute it at no cost (except for copying
and postage). If you're interested please
EMAIL me.
We can trace our Hybarger line back to David Highbarger and his wife who's
first name we don't know, but who's last name was Schwartz. We think
David is connected to Conrad Highbarger of Maryland, but so far have had no
luck making the connection. David and Mrs Highbarger had ten children,
most of whom stayed and raised their families in Greene Co, Tennessee at
least for a generation or so.
However, Joe's ancestor, John, the oldest, moved to
Indiana and was followed by his brother Abraham, our ancestor, who stayed in Indiana a
while before moving on to Edgar Co, IL.
We can trace the Topping line back to Charles F Topping and his wife, Ann
Parker. Charles and Ann had 12 children - only two that we know of had
children, Fredrick and Charles Hudson. We are descendants of Charles
Hudson. We haven't been able to connect Charles F's line before 1827
in New York. However, Ann Parker has a line that goes back
to Jan Schermerhooren who was born in Holland about 1564.
And from there we can trace several lines back before the
1600s.
